The GE Aerospace Foundation has announced the launch of its Next Engineers STEM education programme in Bengaluru, working in partnership with United Way Bengaluru. The initiative, which begins in early 2026, is expected to engage more than 4,000 students in the city by 2030.
The programme is designed for students aged 13 to 18 and offers hands-on learning, career exposure, university preparation, and scholarship opportunities. Globally, Next Engineers has reached over 26,000 students since its launch in 2021.
The foundation has pledged up to USD 20 million over a five-year period to extend the initiative in cities worldwide until 2030. Bengaluru joins Cincinnati, Ohio, and Warsaw, Poland, as part of the expansion.
“Through our partnership with United Way Bengaluru, we’re excited to inspire and prepare thousands of local students to pursue careers in engineering, all part of our efforts to lift people up in the communities where we live and work,” said Meghan Thurlow, President of the GE Aerospace Foundation and Global Head of Public Affairs at GE Aerospace.
Alok Nanda, Chief Technology Officer of GE Aerospace India, said: “The Next Engineers programme will inspire and prepare thousands of students aged 13 to 18 with hands-on learning experiences, career exposure, and university preparation, equipping them to pursue careers in engineering. With the programme set to begin in early 2026, we aim to reach more than 4,000 students in Bengaluru over the next four years.”
GE Aerospace is engaged in aviation propulsion and systems, with research, design, and manufacturing operations across multiple locations. Its Bengaluru campus, one of two global research centres, supports a range of STEM-related education initiatives, including school partnerships and employee-led volunteer programmes.
