PuneGE Aerospace has announced a USD 14 million investment to expand capacity at its Pune manufacturing facility as the site marks 10 years of operations. The funding follows the USD 30 million investment announced in 2024 and is intended to upgrade manufacturing processes and automation to support advanced engine components.
According to a press release issued by GE Aerospace, the expansion will focus on strengthening the site’s production capabilities through process improvements and new automation systems. The company said the Pune team delivers components for commercial jet engines through a nationwide supplier network.
“Our team in Pune has built strong capabilities, and with the support of a country-wide network of suppliers, has delivered components for some of our most advanced commercial jet engines, with safety and quality at the forefront,” said Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director of the Pune facility, GE Aerospace. “This investment reflects our commitment to the Make in India initiative and to advancing India’s role in global aerospace manufacturing.”
The Pune site began as a multi-business facility and has developed into a high-technology aerospace components supplier for GE Aerospace’s global engine manufacturing operations. It is supported by more than 300 suppliers that contribute to the company’s wider network of over 2,200 suppliers across India. Over the past decade, the facility has trained more than 5,000 production associates in precision manufacturing. The site holds ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.
The company stated that operations at the facility are based on FLIGHT DECK, GE Aerospace’s lean operating model that focuses on safety, quality and efficiency. The release noted reductions in waste, improvements in process efficiency and increased output, along with shorter lead times and improved productivity on a new line for a critical component.
GE Aerospace has operated in India for more than 40 years. Its commercial and defence engines power aircraft across Indian airlines and the Indian Air Force and Navy. The Pune manufacturing facility and 13 partner units in India form part of the company’s global supply chain, while its India Technology Centre in Bengaluru supports research and engineering work.Thursday, November 20, 2025
