The Andhra Pradesh government has appointed Satheesh Reddy as an honorary advisor for aerospace and defence manufacturing. The appointment is for a period of two years and is aimed at providing strategic guidance on policy development, infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks for the sector.
Reddy, a former chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and advisor to the Union Ministry of Defence, will assist in formulating policies to support defence manufacturing. His role includes advising on industrial corridors, testing facilities, and innovation clusters, as well as recommending measures to improve the ease of doing business for defence manufacturers.
Additionally, he will track global industry trends and propose strategies to enhance Andhra Pradesh’s position in aerospace and defence research and production.
The state government has also appointed Sreedhara Panicker Somanath, Suchitra Ella, and K.P.C. Gandhi as advisors in space technology, handloom and handicrafts development, and forensic science, respectively.
