Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to produce the Ice Breaker missile system in India. The collaboration is intended to supply the long-range precision-guided weapon system to the Indian armed forces and facilitate technology transfer.
As part of the agreement, BDL will manufacture the Ice Breaker at its facilities, working in coordination with Rafael. The missile system supports air-to-ground and surface-to-surface applications and is designed for high-precision strikes against stationary and mobile targets in varied operational conditions.
The Ice Breaker integrates advanced autonomous guidance and long-range standoff attack capabilities, making it adaptable for multiple platforms. Rafael’s CEO, Yoav Tourgeman, emphasized the strategic nature of the partnership, while BDL Chairman and Managing Director A. Madhavarao highlighted the role of domestic manufacturing in strengthening India’s defence industry.
This MoU marks another step in the ongoing collaboration between Rafael and BDL, reinforcing efforts to enhance indigenous defence production and technological capabilities.
