Indian Navy to Showcase Aviation Capabilities at Aero India 2025
The Indian Navy will present its aviation capabilities at Aero India 2025, scheduled to take place at Air Force Station Yelahanka, Bengaluru, from February 10-14. The event will serve as a platform for industry engagement, highlighting naval aviation requirements and advancements.
During the event, the Navy will release its vision document, Aatmanirbhar Indian Naval Aviation – Technological Roadmap 2047, outlining long-term objectives for technological self-reliance in naval aviation. The document details plans for developing indigenous aviation platforms, systems, and technologies in collaboration with industry, research institutions, and startups.
As part of the static display, the Indian Navy will showcase its operational aircraft, including the MiG-29K carrier-borne fighter, Kamov-31 Airborne Early Warning helicopter, Seaking 42B, and MH-60R anti-submarine and anti-ship helicopters. Additionally, the Light Combat Aircraft (Navy), designed by the Aeronautical Design Agency (ADA) and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), will be on display. This aircraft recently completed a successful landing on the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant.
A fly-past featuring naval aircraft is also planned, including the VARUNA formation, which will consist of a P-8I maritime patrol aircraft, MiG-29K fighters, and Hawk 132 trainers.
The India Pavilion at Aero India 2025 will exhibit indigenous projects developed by the Indian Navy in collaboration with industry and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Displays will include missile systems, air-droppable search and rescue kits, air-droppable containers for logistical support, carrier-borne systems for the MiG-29K, and the Advanced Lightweight Torpedo (ALWT). A scale model of the Twin Engine Deck-Based Fighter, a next-generation carrier-borne fighter under development by ADA, will also be featured.
On February 12, the Navy will conduct a seminar titled Transition to Aatmanirbhar Indian Naval Aviation – 2047 and its Associated Ecosystem, which will bring together stakeholders from industry, academia, and defense organizations to discuss future developments in naval aviation.
Aero India 2025 is expected to facilitate industry partnerships and technological collaborations to enhance indigenous capabilities in naval aviation.
