India will witness the addition of two new international airports in 2025, with Navi Mumbai International Airport scheduled to launch mid-year and Noida International Airport at Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, set to open on April 17, 2025.
The Navi Mumbai International Airport, located near Panvel, will begin operations with a single terminal, one runway, and a parallel taxiway. The project, overseen by Adani Airport Holdings Ltd., is expected to eventually include four terminals and two runways. The facility aims to alleviate congestion at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and improve air travel accessibility for passengers from Pune. Details about airlines and flight routes for the initial phase are yet to be confirmed.
Noida International Airport will also commence operations in phases, starting with one terminal and a single runway. The first phase includes 10 aerobridges, 25 parking stands, and the capacity to handle 65 daily flights, comprising 62 domestic, two international, and one cargo flight. IndiGo and Akasa Air are among the carriers that have confirmed operations from the airport. International flights will initially serve Zurich, Singapore, and Dubai, while domestic routes will connect major cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. The airport is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG.
The development of these airports is expected to expand the country’s aviation infrastructure, easing congestion at existing facilities and enhancing connectivity for travelers.
