Rangsons Aerospace and Over-Sat to Develop Multibeam Antennas for LEO Satcom
Rangsons Aerospace and Over-Sat will enter into a partnership at Aero India 2025 to develop Luneberg lens-based multibeam antennas designed for tracking multiple Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites simultaneously. The collaboration aims to enhance satellite communication (Satcom) capabilities across maritime, land mobile, and aero applications.
The increasing deployment of LEO satellite constellations by companies such as OneWeb, SpaceX, Telesat, Rivada, and Amazon has led to a growing demand for advanced ground-based infrastructure. LEO satellites offer advantages such as lower latency and higher data capacity compared to traditional Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) satellites. However, many existing ground-based antenna systems rely on single-satellite-tracking parabolic designs, which limit efficiency and scalability.
The partnership between Rangsons Aerospace and Over-Sat will focus on developing multibeam antenna technology to facilitate seamless connectivity across multiple satellites in real time. The technology is intended to support applications in defense, aviation, and commercial sectors.
Pavan Ranga, CEO of Rangsons Aerospace, stated that the collaboration with Over-Sat aims to improve ground infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of Satcom. He highlighted the potential of multibeam antenna technology in enabling high-speed connectivity across various industries.
In addition to signing the agreement, Rangsons Aerospace will showcase its avionics, electronic warfare (EW) pods, and airborne thermal management systems at Aero India 2025. The company will also present its high-speed point-to-point and point-to-multipoint networked data links, as well as Ku- and Ka-band Satcom-on-the-move (SOTM) solutions designed for defense and commercial applications.
Rangsons Aerospace is a Mysuru-based company and part of the NR Group, which operates in multiple sectors including defense and aerospace, education, infrastructure, agriculture, and healthcare. The company collaborates with organizations such as ISRO and Boeing, as well as various branches of the Indian defense and aerospace sector.
