SpiceJet has announced its plan to bring 10 grounded aircraft, including four Boeing 737 MAX planes, back into service by mid-April 2025. This move aims to enhance the airline’s operational capacity and expand its network.
The airline currently operates a fleet of 28 aircraft and has added 10 planes since October 2024. These additions included three previously grounded planes that were restored to service and seven leased aircraft. Over the past three months, SpiceJet introduced more than 60 new flights as part of its network expansion.
In December 2024, the company signed an agreement with StandardAero Inc., a U.S.-based engine maintenance provider, to restore its MAX fleet. This followed partnerships with CFM International, the manufacturer of LEAP-1B engines, and a key lessor, enabling the return to service of three Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
SpiceJet has also resolved disputes with several lessors and partners over the past two months, including Export Development Canada, Engine Lease Finance Corporation, and Aircastle (Ireland). These settlements aim to ensure operational stability as the airline works to increase its fleet capacity.
